Every Arts Care transformation begins with listening. We take time to understand your space, your needs, and the people who use it. From concept to installation, we collaborate with you to create artwork that supports well-being, sparks conversation, and celebrates the role of creativity in everyday life.
Whether you’re looking to enhance a waiting area, energise a workspace, or celebrate your service’s identity, our Environmental Transformation service brings imagination, care, and artistic skill to every project.
Whether it’s a hospital corridor, office reception, or public atrium, our artists collaborate with your team to co-create artwork that reflects the identity, function, and values of your space. These transformations help staff feel proud of their environment, provide service users with visual comfort, and create more positive daily experiences for everyone who passes through. Murals, mosaics, sculpture, vinyl artwork, and light-based installations can all be tailored to your goals. Our artists bring creativity and professionalism, ensuring the result is both visually stunning and deeply meaningful.
One powerful example is the Solis Project at Mater Hospital, Belfast. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Artist in Residence Beth McComish worked with staff teams to design and install 20 stained-glass-style lightboxes in the hospital atrium. Each lightbox was created by a different service, representing their unique contributions and stories. The transformation brought light and colour to what had previously been a dark, impersonal space. It created a sense of safety, warmth, and cohesion for staff working long shifts, and was recognised with the Arts & Business NI Staff Engagement Award 2022. The project also deepened understanding of the Artist in Residence programme and strengthened relationships across the hospital.
From hospital corridors to open galleries, curated exhibitions brought colour, meaning, and emotional connection to clinical and community settings.
This curated hospital exhibition turned clinical corridors into a calming and uplifting space for patients, visitors, and staff, supporting emotional wellbeing through art.
Temporary galleries and outdoor sculptures in healthcare settings created visually stimulating environments that improved the everyday experience of those passing through.
One clinical psychologist reported significant wellbeing gains from working in art-filled, beautiful spaces, underlining the therapeutic impact of Arts Care’s environmental work.
From live music in atriums to paintings on ward walls, diverse art interventions created sensory-rich, emotionally supportive healthcare environments.
Ongoing partnerships between artists, staff, and patients fostered pride, ownership, and connection, enhancing the culture and environment of care settings.
