About the project:
“The Ards Peninsula U3A Choir want to set the record straight; retirement and aging don’t necessarily mean slowing down. Lyrics about having a fling, sea swimming and prosecco with a slice of cake came out of writing sessions discussing preconceptions about older adults, and the contrasting reality of a busy and active life.
Participants worked with Andrew Lea and Deirdre Cartmill to learn how to write and edit lyrics, craft and develop melody and work together as a group to make interesting, humorous, relevant songs.”

About the project:
Tapping the Vein of Gold – The Japanese repair broken pottery by filling it with a vein of gold that highlights the cracks and breaks rather than concealing them. This art of kintsugi transforms the object into something unique and beautiful with a story to tell.
Members of the Ards Peninsula u3a gathered in Ballyhalbert for a series of creative writing sessions, and wrote pieces inspired by tapping into life’s golden vein of inspiration and healing.
They explored the cracks and breaks, the moments when life transformed into something else, the moments when change became a renewal. They unearthed old memories and invented stories and poems. They discovered the beauty in the broken.
Reading these pieces will inspire you and help you to see that nothing is broken in life; it has only morphed and grown into something new.
