Title of Work: A Tale to Tell - World War 1 Project

Sion Mills was the home of the famed Herdman’s Mill for some hundreds of years. They were scrupulous employers, ensuring 50/50 in religious makeup. Consequently, when their young men went to war in 1914, the religious divide and, sadly, the casualties, were more or less the same. In a village famed for its good community relations, our group traced their ancestors and neighbours’ relatives who had participated in the 1914-1918 war and as well as research, located artifacts etc, and wrote poems to commemorate the soldiers.
