Projects

Outside of our weekly programmes of arts participation we deliver large and small scale independent projects throughout the year. Two significant sustainable projects are:

The Twilight Zone
Looked after Young People’s Arts Project

This regional project engages young people between the ages of 12-18 years who are resident in Health and Social Care facilities. Through participation in contemporary arts activities involving film-making, digital art, music and photography, the young people articulate their voice, empowering them to share what is relevant to them as well as contributing to shaping a Health and Social Care Service that meets their needs. The Public Health Agency NI support this project.

The Here & Now Older People’s Arts
and Well-being Festival

This festival is an eagerly awaited annual event outreaching into urban and rural health, education and community services across Northern Ireland. The festival activity engages primarily with older people who may be experiencing isolation and loneliness as a result of living with challenges such as Dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, Cancer, reduced mobility and respiratory conditions all of which, may limit their access to participation in the arts and attending arts festivals in the community. This festival is peppered with intergenerational projects involving the older people and schoolchildren sharing cultural experiences together in residential and community care settings.

“You think you know it all when you come to this age but taking part in the Arts Festival workshops has really shown me there is a lot more I have to learn especially about the arts. Meeting other people has to be the big bonus for me.” (Participant in the Here & Now Festival.”
