Title of Work: Intergenerational Dance Project – Living Well, A Tale To Tell
Facilitating Artist:
Carmel Garvey

This very unique dance project has successfully brought our older and younger people together through Dance, Creativity and friendship. Focusing on this year’s theme ‘Living well - a Tale to Tell’ Choreographer, and Arts Care Dancer in Residence Carmel Garvey drew on the creative movements which evolved from our Strule/Erne Activity Centre dance workshops. Like ‘gold dust’ Carmel transported the ideas to the children, who, brought the ideas to life by further creating dance sequences of their own which both mirrored and developed Strule/Erne dancers created seeds, into dance which enveloped inclusively both groups uniqueness and talents. Through Zoom the children and older people became familiar with each other, and this friendship further deepened and added to the Inclusiveness of the dance piece. They shared their creations, and as they performed it became clear that both groups were beginning to feel the connection, like a golden threat stretching from the children in Omagh Integrated Primary School to the older people at Strule/Erne Activity Centre. The Dance piece delivers a clear message of Uniqueness, Connection, Inclusion, Diversity, Creativity, Engagement and togetherness.
