Artists in Residence in the SHSCT


JILL MCKEOWN

Jill McKeown studied art at the University of Ulster, Belfast receiving and MA in Fine & Applied Arts in 1997. Since leaving college she has enjoyed many artists residencies in the USA, Europe and Ireland and has exhibited in solo and group shows in Ireland, America, UK, Europe, Egypt, China and Japan. She has over 25 years experience in delivering socially engaged practice within the broader community and healthcare joining Arts Care as an AIR in the Southern Trust in 2004 and more recently also in the South Eastern Trust. Jill facilitates workshops in a range of Trust facilities promoting the potential of art as a means of creative expression through printmaking, painting, ceramics, textiles and installation, mosaic and bookarts. “The relationship between art and health is well evidenced. The success of collaborative working and connecting with one another ensures art is accessible and inclusive for all throughout the Trusts putting the focus on abilities and possibilities, hopefully creating a better, healthier and more sustainable life.” 


Eddie rafferty

Eddie Rafferty studied art at the University of Ulster, Belfast, specialising in drawing and printmaking. He has worked as an Arts Care artist in resident in the Southern Health Trust since 2002 . He has exhibited in Europe Africa and America he has received awards both national and international. Rafferty is a member of the Royal Ulster Academy. “I draw my inspiration from people the landscape and their histories”
