“The Heartfelt Journey” – Poetry – As we travel through life, it’s the journey that matters, not the destination. During these sessions we reflected on this, and looked at life’s journey from this deeper perspective. We created group verbatim poems and individual poems. We explored what we were thankful for. We wrote about our bucket lists. Inspired by Jenny Joseph’s poem Warning we had fun revealing all the outrageous things we would love to do when we are older and past caring. We ended by creating a longer group piece on the different seasons of life. Along the way, emotions about lockdown raised their head and we wrote poems to deal with the loneliness, isolation and lack of physical touch. Through writing we transformed those feelings into hope for a better future.
