Ned Jackson Smyth

I have been working in the area of public art work for the past thirteen years. This aspect of art holds a professional interested for me; I enjoy the challenge of public spaces, the communities that use them and the interaction of my concepts within that space.

My interest in the health care environment links into this interest in public spaces; the physical passing through of public, and the transient qualities that are inherent in such a space. There is a consistent movement of people, and their journeys are, on many different levels physical and emotional.

Biography:

Graduated University of Ulster 1992. B.A. (Hons) Fine and applied Arts

Has completed a substantial number of Public commissions to date, which encompass a mixture of community-based projects to authority commissions, and a number of private commissions here in Ireland, Europe and the U.S.A

Recently been awarded “The Civic Award” for valuable contribution to the quality and appearance of the environment
