Kate began at the Mater Hospital in February 2007 and has since instigated a variety of collaborative Art projects there. "Imagining Being Smoke-Free" in March 2008 (please see images below) with Health Promotion being one for which she won a UK wide award for 'the most innovative project'. Also, the 2009 "ArtsCare Mood Diary" which was published by the Belfast Trust and comprises of poetry by Mater Psychiatry Patients and illustrations by illustrator Kathryn Boyle.
Kate also runs regular painting workshops within Psychiatry at the Mater and is currently working on an 'Environment Awareness' project with Health Promotion which involves monthly artistic interventions and will culminate in final artwork designed with the patients.
My Role
I believe people flourish when their ideas are valued, listened to and encouraged. I try to create the right environment for new moments or triggers to occur where patients discover a belief in themselves and their abilities with clarity and confidence.
