Title of Work: Tales to Tell Through Songs
Facilitating Artist:
Karen Diamond

This tales and singing project has engaged participants from the Mid Ulster Age NI community in the Here & Now Festival and was facilitated by Arts Care artist Karen Diamond. Tales to tell through songs was delivered over eight sessions using a blended approach, some by zoom and some face to face. The project offered participants the opportunity to reminisce about different periods in their lives and any songs and stories associated with those memories. So many tales associated with so many songs: May’s Memory - her first song memory was buying the music for 'How much is that doggie in the window' and getting her daddy to bark at the appropriate times in the car on the way home. A lady who shared such vibrant Christmas memories including the Rudolph's sleigh tracks in the field outside the house. Ralph’s memory – I made a double bass out of a tea chest and string to play in a Skiffle band. A lady who when teaching made up funny songs about the school inspector. A huge thanks to all the wonderful people from Age NI who took part and told Karen their stories, such wonderful singing and stories made every workshop special. Also thanks to Sam Cunningham the Age NI coordinator who help us get everyone together whether on Zoom, face to face or even on the phone and of course thanks to Karen who made each session fabulous and enabled us to put this book together.
