Arts Care AGM and New Annual Report

The Arts Care AGM took place last Tuesday (23rd) at the Crescent Arts Centre in Belfast. We always look forward to the AGM as it gives us a chance to showcase the work and achievements from the past financial year and to show funders and advocates the work that they are supporting.

The event included presentations from Arts Care Committee Chairs Dr Roger Hamill, from Musgrave Park Hospital and Dr Robert Cuthbert, from Belfast City Hospital. There were performances from dancer Carmel Garvey, partnering Paddy Kilmartin from Kompany Maine – a dance company comprised of men with acquired brain injury and a dance and music performance from third year medical students at Queens University Belfast. The last year has seen a new partnership with Queens University School of Nursing and Midwifery, with Dr Katherine Rogers presenting on their behalf to showcase a felting project which took place with her first year nursing students.

We would like to thank our Graphic Designer, Alan Diver, for all of his hard work this year in designing and producing our Annual Report, which can be downloaded here. Alan always pulls out all of the stops to produce a gorgeous piece of work to showcase the hard work of all of our artists (and musician)-in-residence and, with so many projects to include for this year, he really had his work cut out for him.

Arts Care would also like to thank all of it’s artists and musicians who work so incredibly hard to produce such high quality work within their Healthcare Trust areas. Many thanks also to the staff, Committee members and Committee Chairs from all five Health and Social Care Trusts. Your advocacy and support is the backbone of our organisation and greatly appreciated. Thanks also to Queens University Belfast, University of Ulster and the Pushkin Trust for their continuing partnership.

The Board and staff of Arts Care also extends its heartfelt thanks to our funders: the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety, all five Health and Social Care Trusts, the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, the Public Health Agency, Strabane District Council, the Culture Company and Children in Need.

Here’s to another successful year of arts in health delivery!
